- REVIEW THE METER FUNCTION
Set the multitester for a continuity test as shown in Photo 1.

2. REVIEW THE HAND SWITCH FUNCTIONALITY
Unplug the hand switch from the table. Verify the switch condition by using the following diagram to identify which pins are used for which function. One probe from the meter goes on the center pin and the other probe on the function to be tested. A second person will probably need to push the switch while you watch the meter screen. Each button function is "normally open" so the meter will show a "1" until the button is preseed to "close" it. The meter will then show zero.

3. REVIEW THE BOARD FUNCTIONALITY
Plug the hand switch into the jack on the table. When each button is pressed on the hand switch one of the eight LED's will light on the printed board in the base. This is helpful for troubleshooting by verifying that the board is receiving power and the hand switch or foot switch is completing the communication side of the circuit.
4. You can also test the board without the hand control:
The drawing below is of the CM132 board. The CM129 Autoreturn board is on the next page. Determine which terminal controls the function that you want to test. Unplug only the black common wire and the wire for the particular function. Hold a piece of wire on the common terminal and the other end of the same wire to the other terminal. Does the motor run? If you hear a click and the motor does not run then the motor may need a capacitor. If no click, replace the board.

CM129, AUTORETURN BOARD:
Determine which terminal controls the function that you want to test. Hold a piece of wire on the common terminal and the other end to the appropriate function terminal.

5. IF NO MOTORS RESPOND TO THE BOARD TESTS then set the meter for AC VOLTS and check for 115volts at the input terminals (T1 and T3) on the board, near the transformer. These are the black and white wires.
6. If input voltage is good, check the black common on the switch side of the board. This is the other wire that all functions share. Check for continuity between the end that connects to the board and center pin of the jack for the hand switch. If the meter shows zero then you have continuity.
