1. Places elector switch to distraction and use the pressure pedal to make certain lower section is retracted all the way in towards the thoracic cushion and zero shows on the digital display.
2. Place patient on the table, attach ankle straps and extend the foot section out as far as possible.
3. Secure counter traction seatbelt over patient.
4. Select treatment time by pressing treatment time button then using the up and down arrow.
5. Select rest and pull time and rest poundage- 25% or 50%. Usually 50% is used. Once these settings are selected, they will be saved and can be used for every patient if desired.
6. Distract the patient using the foot pedal while palpating the lumbar spine. The digital display will show the distracting force, usually 1/3 the body weight is adequate.
7. Press start button. The patient will receive traction for the amount of pull seconds you selected then the table will retract to the rest cycle time.
8. When a treatment ends, the table will retract. However, it is always best to press the auto vent once the patient is off the table to make sure the table top is all the way retracted.
To preset the pull poundage not using the foot pedal
Press auto vent so you will see zero. It will then display 50 lbs. Use up or down arrow to increase desired traction. Then press start.
